BRAND…BLOG…BUILD…BANK

The following are Coach B’s 4 Essential B’s!  Isn’t it time you discovered how to utilize them?

  1. BRAND
You must know and understand your UPQ. What’s yours?  Are you leveraging it? Ok, I envision you scratching your head and saying, “What is UPQ! Let’s back up.  Yes, I acknowledge that Branding is one of the 4 B’s.  In fact, I see people talking about branding YOU all over the internet.  Most of the time, however, they are talking about branding you as a leader, making you think you can be the next internet Guru.  Well, guess what? Everyone is NOT a leader, but everyone is UNIQUE and everyone is a PERSON. This is the first part of the equation…UP.  Each of you is a Unique Person. So what’s with the Q? Q stands for “quotient.” Merriam Webster online dictionary says that “quotient” is the magnitude of a specified characteristic or quality, i.e <the celebrity’s likability quotient is high>.  I am referring to “quotient” as defined in this way.   For my purpose of getting you to consider what your UPQ is, I am talking about the magnitude of your Unique Person status.  That translates to discovering, defining, and calculating your UPQ so that you understand the magnitude of your unique person status.
  2. BLOG
Creating your own personal blog is as easy as reciting your ABC’s…if you know HOW!
Blogging and utilizing organic SEO can build your business lightning fast…yes, quicker than any other method. You can distribute articles and videos, all linking back to YOUR BLOG with YOUR EXPERT STORY!
  3. BUILD
One of the best ways to BUILD LIGHTNING FAST is by utilizing a S.Y.S.T.E.M. (Save Your Self Time Energy And Money) that offers you ongoing training. I can easily miss a lot of details, so I make sure that I have SYSTEMS in place that allow me to think in visionary ways, and help you and others do the same.  I don’t choose to reinvent the wheel.  I keep my creative juices flowing by choosing better wheels as I discover them and greasing the current wheels with my own creative spin. The best results, both offline and online, old school and new school, are manifested through building relationships and connecting with people. I have coined Age of Influence Marketing (tm) to describe this process.  It is precisely what I utilize to build businesses today. The term captures and represents what I  believe is a paradigm shift that is creating the first new business model in my lifetime. Remember, just because we all aren’t in the same business doesn’t mean we can’t choose to be on the same T.E.A.M (Together Each Associate Matters)! There are a myriad of ways to collaborate! Collaboration & Teamwork fire me up! Let’s do it together! Age of Influence Marketing (tm) utilizes Collective Intelligence, which I have dubbed the new “EXPERT” in today’s market, lending itself to this collaborative process, and is readily available due to technological advances such as the internet. Crowdsourcing, a new term for an ancient process, is an arm of Age of Influence Marketing (tm) that is being employed by businesses, connecting this new “EXPERT” of Collective Intelligence globally.   That’s why I love coaching people in learning how to use innovative and new ideas to evolve into their Millionaire Self, representing their choice to experience Financial Freedom.
  4. BANK
BRAND, BLOG & BUILD Your Business Lightning FAST & Take it to Your BANK!
Isn’t that what you truly want to do? What’s stopping you?

79 MILLION PEOPLE (Forbes) will start their own business in the next three years.  That is both staggering and the wave of the future.  Do you want to ride the wave, or miss out on it because you won’t get in the water, or you get in the water without a surf board, or you refuse to use the surf board under your arm when you do get in the water?

I know what some of you are thinking.  I can body surf!  Sure you can…many of you  have destroyed your body in an attempt to ride the wave by yourself (Getting in the water represents a choice to choose to have your own small or home-based business. The surf board represents Collaboration & T.E.A.M.WORK).

My suggestions?

  1. Choose to operate a small or home-based business. The tax laws in most countries reward you greatly. Do your due diligence and choose one!  I can tell you in five minutes exactly what your financial benefit would be, no matter what business you choose.  Contact me if you are interested in having me run a no cost analysis. (contact info under “Work with Coach B” tab)
  2. Choose a good surf board (Collaboration & T.E.A.M.WORK). Have fun doing a little body surfing, but don’t rely on it as your sole source for riding the waves.  I applaud you for choosing to enter the water.  That is a great initial step.  I can tell you, however, that choosing only to body surf will cause you to miss out on a lot of experiences and bigger waves that could have taken you further than you ever imagined!

Here’s the bottom line...people do business with people they know, like and trust. If you use your UPQ BRAND to attract people in your niche and willingly share free, valuable information and insights that offer solutions and benefit your loyal following through your BLOG,  they will be more than happy to purchase your services and products when the time is right for them.  In fact, they will say, “How can I work with YOU?” You will easily and naturally BUILD your business.  And you can take that to the BANK..Your Bank!

Positioning yourself and acquiring the proper skills will determine whether you ride the wave to success through the 4 B’s or if you miss it altogether.

BELIEVE you can be ONE of those 79 Million People…and be SUCCESSFUL at it!  It is your Attitude that will determine how well you utilize your surf board, once you have selected a good one! It will mean going out to catch a new wave, time and time again, after falling off your board. Just dare to ride another wave!

Yes, it’s about PROGRESS...not Perfection.  When you dare to dance on the edge, and then take a flying leap off, trusting that you will either fly or find solid ground, you will look at CHAOS (a necessary element for shifting, changing, evolving and transforming) in a whole different light.  You will welcome it as if it is gold!  (And, truly it is as you BRAND, BLOG, BUILD & Take it to Your BANK!). You will also find yourself saying, “That was E-A-S-Y!’

Who would have believed that the U.S. Government and Social Networks would be Research Partners?

Read that title again>>>>>>>>

Right.  No way, you are thinking!

Think again!

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and social networks linked arms to do a little research …research that could potentially solve a problem of national scope in the future.

The Washington Post said, “In DARPA’s Network Challenge, tied to the 40-year anniversary of the Internet, the Department of Defense’s research arm placed 10 weather balloons in public places around the country. The first team to locate and submit the balloons’ correct geographic coordinates would get the cash prize. Ready, set, Twitter!”

The Network Challenge (remember that word “network”…we’ll come back to that later) capitalized on  CrowdSourcing,
a term first coined by Wired Magazine in 2006.

It essentially means: utilizing the new pool of cheap labor: everyday people using their spare cycles to create content, solve problems,  even do
corporate R & D.

In the case of DARPA’s Network Challenge, it was locating 10 weather balloons.

Just an added tidbit of info…Finding one of these 10 weather balloons was worth more than a Big Mac Meal!

Yes, $40,000 was at stake for the team who most quickly found those 10 balloons!!

Can you say and then repeat… “M-O-N-E-Y Motivates!”

The winning team was spearheaded by Riley Crane, a postdoctoral research fellow at MIT’s Media Lab. MIT’s team set up an elaborate information-gathering method that essentially used CrowdSourcing.   Varying levels of financial reward went to the first person to spot the balloon, with others involved in contributing being rewarded at a smaller level.    Left over money went to charity.

I believe this next part explains the Key for the winning team!

Crane says that the team’s decision to spread the wealth was instrumental to its success, as it gave people an incentive to share good information, and a feeling of investment in the process. He was less interested in the monetary prize than in the potential for social research.

Some questions asked at the end of this “high” adventure with 10 balloons! :)

“Could we design an alert system to help us find missing children? Could we redesign the incentive structure for police rewards?”

Ok…hope this has intrigued you enough to read the entire coverage from the Washington Post.

This day of partnership I have described above happened back in 2009.  But…it is worth noting in 2010, as there are certain ramifications for the future of network marketing!  Welcome to the newest wave!

Ok…let me continue to connect the dots to network marketing.  Remember that I noted that DARPA called it the
“Network” Challenge?

Narc Technologies, a company who has been gathering data in Texas for five years, is now rapidly expanding to all 50 states using that process of CrowdSourcing as they continue to gather data quickly.

Can you understand how similar this is to what Darpa did to find the 10 balloons…even to the point of give financial incentives!  The biggest difference?  They are rewarding people for inputting just 10 license plate numbers a month in order to build a HUGE data base vs. finding 10 weather balloons!

Remember the question from above asked after the Network Challenge was over…
“Could we design an alert system to help us find missing children?”

Well…Narc Technologies’ system has given Amber Alert a free client membership to assist in doing exactly that!

The bottom line is that groups of people working together, combining both old school marketing methods (people helping people) with new school marketing tools (CrowdSourcing, Social Media), can achieve amazing results!

Welcome to what I have coined as the Age of Influence!

It is an exciting time to be alive in this economy!  It is only the second paradigm shift in business models in my lifetime (I believe Franchising was the other one).

How does this bode for the future of networking marketing?  I believe more companies will emerge combining CrowdSourcing  and the Network Marketing model in various ways.  It won’t end with just information gathering vs. offering a product. The sky and beyond is limitless!

At the end of the day, however, the bottom line is that a large group of people will endeavor to work together to accomplish a goal and millionaires,
multi-millionaires, and even billionaires will be created in the process!

I’d like to know what you think???  Are you tracking with me?

Facebook Follow-UP…Are you Intriqued by this Explosive Growth?

If you missed my previous post about Facebook & the groups that are growing the fastest, here it is

In that post I cite this particular article and mention a particular demographic …

Now…I am just wondering if this demographic is getting online to connect because so many people are divorcing in America, particularly after 25-30 years of marriage. That would put this demographic smack in the middle of that age group.

Now, I don’t know whether there is any connection or not…I am just throwing it out there for consideration. There might not be one iota of cause and effect in this observation.  Anyone care to comment???

I have a .com domain reserved called Women A Certain Age that will address many issues that impact this demographic.

It’s not up yet…just in development.  Being one of those Women A Certain Age, I believe we have lots we can share with one another!

Robynne Sapp, a photographer, wants to do photography sessions with this demographic because she feels drawn to capturing their essence…their beauty. All 55+ Ladies contact Robynne Sapp at Robbi@Images4Impact.com and visit her website

Impact Images if you want to be involved in the project.

How about including targeted information on Finances + mind, body, spirit +Relationships?

Anyone else have an idea they want to promote with Women A Certain Age? Contact me!

I am glad to be a woman of a certain age.  It feels great.  My motto is “let loose” and with all my heart!

Another way to put it is “I Live life on the edge…and then leap…knowing that I will either FLY or find solid ground.”

It’s how I trust the process of Life and goes right along with my intention to live if fully unattached to a specific outcome.

Connecting with Andrea Waltz…Take the 30 Day Challenge & watch “Go for NO!”

Here’s an example of how cool it can be to connect with people, simply by passing along something of value when you identify it. This is how the story began. Cathy Buchanan, a friend of mine in my primary business, sent me a link to this fabulous this 3 minute video called “Go for NO!” Well, I was thrilled with it. I immediately sent it out to my team. I tell people that I get up everything morning hoping to hear “No.” They look at me like I am crazy (which is sometimes true), with a quizzical look on their face. I then explain that if I am willing to hear “No,” I am assured of hearing “YES!” It’s sort of like committing to having authenticity in your relationships, whether business or personal. If I am willing to commit to being transparent and truth telling and sometimes uncomfortable and painful moments because of it, I am assured of having aha moments and genuine authentic connection and intimacy and love in my life. Back to “Go to NO!” Andrea’s short video, however, is 10 times more powerful than me simply sharing that “tidbit of wisdom.” It all goes back to what I say about marketing. People are not duplicable. SYSTEMS are! So, people can’t drag me around with them on a daily basis, saying, “Dotti…tell my friend what you say about getting up every day hoping you hear ‘No.’ ” On the other hand, anyone can watch this 3 minute video every single day. Why not try this. Commit to a 30 day program of watching “Go for NO!” See what happens. Anyway, to continue…I Twittered about “Go for NO!” and talked about it on Facebook…I wrote a blog about the most inspiring videos on the internet, and chose “Go for NO!” as the best 3 minute one. I also contacted Andrea Waltz, who developed the program, and told her how much I like it, tshared hat I had twittered about it, and that I had blogged about it. GUESS WHAT HAPPENED? She wrote me back and offered to send me a free signed copy of her boook (which I did not yet have because I had just discovered the video and was excitedly getting out the word about it). I then wrote back and gave her my address, accepting her kind outreach. You know, great gestures like that make a big difference. I then made sure I connected up with Andrea in every way I could in order to stay abreast of any new info she puts out, and right there on Facebook, she wrote on my wall…”Hi Dotti! Glad to get to know you! Your signed copy of “Go for No!” is on the way today…”   One last funny part…for years, I have been telling people that I failed my way to success in business, running into obstacles, crawling over obstacles, and removing obstacles until I found the success I sought.  I wanted to take my current primary business to a new level.  That began my journey of learning & discovering (meaning eating, sleeping and breathing) what I have coined as Age of Influence Marketing ™. You might be saying, “What is that?”  It is literally online, attraction marketing on steroids. The good part is that THESE steroids are LEGAL! I guess my bottom line is now that I have discovered you, Andrea, we’re connected and friends for life!  :) I would apologize for “plagarizing” what I see in all of your writing about “fail your way to success,” but I promise I had not come across your work until now and have been saying it for my 30 year journey of failing my way to success.

One example of failing my way to success…
One year after my business was named ASI (Advertising Specialities Institute) Small Business of the Year in the United States in 1995, I started another business, only to have two business partners embezzle everything, sending me back to ground zero. I picked myself back up, determined not to be a victim.  I decided instead to use it as a learning experience, telling people that I would have gladly paid a quarter million dollars for the lessons I learned and the insights I gained about myself, but I would have rather had it been my choice to spend the money. :)   I committed to social justice work on behalf of obtaining equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons…started on my doctorate work to become a clinical sexologist…and later embarked on a year-long journey across America in 2005/06.  None of this would probably have happened if everything had “gone the way I planned.”  It fit right into my philosophy that matches what Helen Keller said, “Life is a Daring Adventure or Nothing at All.” And,  I certainly would  probably not be involved in coaching and teaching people about internet and social media marketing had my real estate holdings not been impacted by renters not paying.  But I LOVE THE LIFE I HAVE!

Our friend, Peggy Campolo, wrote Roby yesterday and said I was just like her husband, Tony…a racehorse!  I consider that comparison to Tony to be the highest compliement!  At 55, some people start believing the saying about “the old gray mare, she ain’t what she used to be.”  Are you kidding me? As long as I am connecting with people, living my truth, living as the gift that I am, and being present to my moments, I will continue to live, love and laugh my way through life.  I will dance on the edge before leaping into the air into a swan dive, trusting that the best will happen and that a safety net will be available whenever I need it.  I believe that I am in front of a powerful tsunami.  Unfortunately, a literal tsunami has made us forget that the word doesn’t necessarily have to represent something bad.  It’s all about positioning.  If I position myself right, I can be in front of this powerful online,/internet/social marketing/social media tsunami and allow it to propel me forward.  I can simultaneously fail my way to success, while daring to ride the wave to success.

I enjoy people who are willing to take risks, for I know that person has an energy that offers an exchange in relationship that allows us to empower one another. Andrea doesn’t know it yet, but she’s being added to my Life Team, people whose energy I want to engage.   Stay tuned for that blog soon on my Life Team Top 10! I just put this “terminology” into my life playbook as I read one of my most recent favorite books, The One Decision, by Judith Wright.  Now, Judith, listen up…you are on my Life Team Top 10 too!  Roby recently wrote her, sharing how we are reading the book together, with Roby reading it out loud to me as we sit in the hot tub or in the sun room each morning, enjoying our cup of coffee.  We often do this because Roby is a kinisthetic learner and either has to read the book out door to have its meaning “stick” with her or listen to it on MP3 (which we also do through Audible).  We were so enjoying the book, which I picked up in a little bookstore in San Francisco.  Ok, I know it seems like I am going off track here, but the threads are meaningful to me!  I was there at the Institute, where I am finishing my doctorate in Human Sexuality.  After class, I decided to go watch where they were filming Milk.  Old cars lined the street and I looked across and saw Sean Penn standing in front of Harvey Milk’s old photography store which they had restored to its original look. Who knew at that time that Sean would go on to win the Oscar for Best Actor?  Check out his acceptance speech.  Obviously, I love it because he embraces and understands my desire for marriage equality.  You might be asking how I got from Andrea’s “Go for NO!” to the movie, Milk and Sean Penn.  Think about it.  Harvey Milk was the quintessential walking billboard for “Go for NO!” Nothing stopped his quest for creating equality for ALL (not just the GLBT community)…not even putting his life at risk.  In fact, if Harvey were alive, Andrea would probably have him signed as one of her spoke persons!

Ok, back to my time in San Francisco. I then walked in a bookstore that caught my eye (I never walk past one that doesn’t).  It was directly across the street from Harvey’s old photography store.  As I browsed, I saw Judith’s book, The ONE Decision.  The title immediately resonated with me on a DNA level and I picked it up, read the back cover, flipped through the pages, and bought it immediately.  I then got “consumed” with school, real estate investing, and “life stuff” with it sitting on my bookshelf until Roby picked it up recently.  She began reading it, and then we were suddenly reading it together.  The time had come for this book to BE in my life. Although I am normally the one who likes to use yellow highlighter pen and make notes in my books, Roby felt a desire to do that with this book, recognizing it is going to be a “Life Bible” for us.  Roby contacted the Wright Leadership Institute, placed our order and discovered that we would also receive two complimentary guest invitations to one of Judith’s week-end trainings.  Roby then wrote an email to Judith, sharing how impactful the book is being for her, although just halfway completed at the time, and how much we were enjoying it together.  We  received the kindest personal note back from Judith, saying how touched she was by Roby’s email. And…when the book arrived, there were FOUR, not two, complimentary invitations, allowing us to invite our dear friends Kimberly & Kelli to join us!

I told Roby, “Well, Judith doesn’t know it yet, but I don’t just want to read her book.  I want her as a personal friend!”  :) Same way I feel about Anderea.  Am I saying that we are all going to become personal friends? Not necessarily, but maybe so.  I leave it open to the possibility  the universe brings as we attract people into our lives.  What I am saying is that these are the types of individuals with whom I want to surround myself.  Folks, if you don’t shoot the ball above the rim, you will never score!  (my background from being Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Kentucky causes me to often use basketball analogies!).  I already realize that Judith is a “Go for NO!” person and Andrea is a “ONE Decision” person.  Me?  I’m also both, so hear me out, Andrea and Judith, I am recruiting you for MY LIFE TEAM!

Back to Andrea and “Go for NO!”  Next, check out her “Fail Your Way to Success” blog. Last, but not least, go to her “Go for NO!” website. Check out her You Tube video from being a guest on Idol Chat.

What do you do next? Get Judith’s and Andrea’s books NOW! (click below) .  Also, take the 30 day “Go for NO!” challenge I am suggesting…Engage & BE PRESENT with yourself for 3 minutes each day by watching ”Go for NO!” for 30 days, and watch your success explode!  And, remember, it’s all about authentic connections…mine with myself, mine with you, and ours with one another!

Guess what?? Just as I was finishing this blog post, my signed copy of Andrea’s book arrived in the mail.  Isn’t synchronicity magnificent? Stay tuned for a future blog about my “LIFE TEAM.”

Mike Dillard, the Godfather of Attraction Marketing & Magnetic Sponsoring Guru, is alive and well and speaking at my webinar, but we lost a great Attraction Marketer in Millard Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity

What do Mike Dillard and Millard Fuller have in common?  Both have exhibited the essence of true, authentic Attraction Marketing…You give value to people, and in turn, you inspire them, and then they follow you because they trust and believe in you.  Mike is a master of magnetic sponsoring, yet Millard was doing it before Mike was born. Our world is better because of both have offered of themselves, for both have changed their perspective “markets.”

If the opportunity to hear Mike Dillard speak doesn’t get you excited, nothing will! Likewise, if hearing Tony Campolo as the principal speaker at Millard Fuller’s Life Celebration Party doesn’t get you excited, nothing will.

Check in for the Interview withThe Biggest Name In the MLM Industry, The Pioneer of Attraction Marketing, The Guy Who Revolutionized The MLM Industry Forever, Mr. MIKE DILLARD!!! If you are serious about your business, don’t miss this! Go to MagneticMarketingDiva and sign up for this dynamic, jamming webinar that you don’t want to miss!  How often do you get to personally hear Mike Dillard without going to a big week-end seminar.  And, though his emails are great, there’s NOTHING like hearing him live in a webinar!

To discover how you can hear Tony Campolo speak about the life of Millard Fuller, founder with his wife, Linda, of Habitat for Humanity, keep reading this blog…you will learn how you can.

Don’t choose one or the other…Mike speaking about ATTRACTION MARKETING or Tony speaking about the ATTRACTION MARKETER, Millard Fuller.  Do both.  You won’t regret either!

Now, here’s a truth you can take to the bank.  You CANNOT duplicate MIKE DILLARD or MILLARD FULLER!  Mike is uniquely MIKE…Millard was uniquely MILLARD.  And you know what you have in common with them? You are Uniquely YOU!  It would be pretty fricking boring if we were all alike!  But…here’s what you can do.  You can duplicate SYSTEMS…and we’ve got a SYSTEM that can help you with Mike’s ATTRACTION MARKETING!  Mike’s ATTRACTION MARKETING & our system will propel you to success in your business. It’s the way in which you approach marketing, rather than marketing in and of itself.  And thank goodness Habitat Humanity continues to exist because of a SYSTEM and will not disappear with the death of Millard.  Do you get the connection?

Here’s an example…Let’s say that you are going to a party and you don’t know anyone.  If you go in and just begin meeting people and asking them questions about themselves, at the end of the night, they will go up to the hostess and say that you were the most engaging guest they chatted with all night!  On the other hand,  if you walk through the door, jump up on the food table and say, “Ok, folks…put down your wine and plate.  I want you to pay attention.  I have a GREAT Product and  a GREAT Opportunity for you.” Well, this is what will happen.  Somebody will scream, “Get the hook,” and you will be dragged off your pedastal (the food table) and tossed out the door, without ever having met anyone!  What a missed opportunity, eh?  Ok, I am so close to the border here in the Pacific NW, and I LOVE my Canadian brothers and sisters, I have to throw in an “eh?”  They are so much better with words.  Do you know what the correlating “words” for “eh” is in the United States.  Well, let me tell you by sharing a story.  My friend, Laura, who lives in Vancouver and has been a friend since we met in Arizona when I was living in Kentucky, one day said, “XXXXXXXX, don’t you know it?”  She was visiting me (or I was visiting her…don’t remember which now), but I looked at her and said,”Don’t you know it?”  She said, “Yes, that term you say at the end of the sentence.” Well, I doubled over in laughter.  I said, “You must be talking about when I say, ‘XXXXXXXX, you know what I mean?’ “  We both go so tickled. Every time I think of that story, I am filled with joy for the spontaneous exchange.  So, now that I live in the Pacific NW in  Blaine, WA barely twenty minutes from where she lives in White Rock, we do something like this to cause us to fold into giggles.  “Laura, I believe that social media connections and being on Twitter and Facebook is the key to your friend’s food social networking site Food Connect, don’t you know it…you know what I mean…eh?”  And then we look at one another, and know that we’ll be friends for life.  Does it matter that we speak differently…me with a strong southern accent from growing up in the south, and Laura with her special way of speaking?  Hell no!  Authentic connections are simply that…engaging moments of being present with one another in the simplest of situations, laughing and sharing.  So, check out Food Connect!  If you are a foodie, this is the site for you…share recipes…connect with foodies all over the world!  Isn’t it great that we don’t have to have the same passion, the same business, the same life in order to JOIN THE CONVERSATON?  The bottom line is that we are all connected…we are all on the same TEAM!

You may feel that I have digressed from my sharing about the MIKE DILLARD webinar that you can sign up for at MagneticMarketingDiva.  Not at all.  In fact, that story is a perfect illustration of ATTRACTION MARKETING.  It’s all about the relationship.  That applies whether you on online or offline.

Speaking of connecting, it was with great sadness that we lost one of the greatest of connectors this week.  Who is that?  Millard Fuller, the founder of Habitat for Humanity.  Most people in our world know about Habitat for Humanity, but few know that Koinonia Village is the birthplace of this magnicent organization started by Linda & Millard Fuller. Roby and I had the privilege of speaking at Koinonia Village in Americus, Georgia.

From the Koinonia website, it says…
“Preliminary autopsy results suggest congestive heart failure, the same cause of death 40 years ago for our founder Clarence Jordan. Millard came to Koinonia in the early 1960s at a crucial time in his life and his marriage. He immediately became good friends with our founder Clarence Jordan. He often said that he learned most everything from Clarence while sitting across from him, helping to milk the farm’s cows.

Together with Clarence and our neighbors, Millard started Partnership Housing, which grew up to be Habitat for Humanity International. In 2005, at the age of 70, Millard and Linda founded Fuller Center for Housing to continue working to provide adequate housing for the world’s poor.

Millard wanted to be buried in the same manner as was his spiritual mentor and friend Clarence. So, like our founder Clarence, Millard will be buried on Picnic Hill in a shipping crate with no significant marker for his grave. ”

If you don’t know the deeper story of these two amazing, original ATTRACTION MARKETING men, visit Koinonia website.  Roby was emailing today with our dear friend, Peggy Campolo, and they were talking  about his passing.

Ain't life grand? We stayed at Peggy and Tony's home on our year long journey. I first met Peggy in 1999 when we gathered in Lynchburg, VA for the first ever Soulforce gathering. Peggy said today that Rylee Joy was her best house guest ever...and that we weren't too bad! She said to give Rylee Joy hugs and kisses.

Roby told Peggy that we are on the Koinonia email list, and learned about Millard’s death a couple weeks ago, and discovered in the most recent newsletter that her husband, Tony Campolo, will be the principle speaker at Millard’ Life Celebration Party. Roby told Peggy, “ How neat is that!  I told Dotti I would love to be able to see it/hear Tony, etc. … do you think it will be videotaped or recorded somehow?”  Well, guess what folks. Peggy contacted Linda, Millard’s wife, and she wrote back, saying…

Find a computer with good speed internet connection. Go to www.FullerCenter.org and find the button on the homepage to click on for the webcast. Practice now by pulling up the Fuller Center web site. While you are there, click on the blue camera and you will see my work of loading photos in gallaries that show our work around the world.Isn’t

Isn’t it great that we all can share in knowing more about Millard Fuller by looking at those photos and listening Tony Campolo speak about him at his Life Celebration Party?

The memorial service for Millard Fuller is scheduled for 2 p.m. March 14 at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga., the church Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. once co-pastored with his father. The public is invited and welcome to attend. In 1992, Millard was honored with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Humanitarian Award, and was invited to preach at this church in 1993.

Ann Karp, a program director at Koinonia, asked us to speak there after she read about our year long journey criss-crossing American in 2005/06, with the intention of engaging hearts and minds, creating authentic connections and transcending differences that separate us. Roby & I were the first gay people ever invited to speak there.  This picture is immediately after we spoke.  Part of this newsletter from our journey tells of our time there.  Read it and learn more about Clarence Jordan.

Though Koinonia’s roots were in the Christian faith, it evolved over the years   Peacemaking is a core value of Koinonia.  I believe that is the reason we were asked to speak there.  That we are gay just happened to be a part of who we are.  The bigger picture, I believe, is that our message resonated with their core values. People of all faiths go there to spend up to two weeks.

Ok, once again, you may feel that I have digressed from my sharing about the MIKE DILLARD webinar that you can sign up for at MagneticMarketingDiva.  Once again, I repeat. Connections…Connections…Connections…Where would we all be without our connections to one another?

Why I added a category for Ramblings, Feelings & BS Opinions

Sometimes you just need a “catch all” category.  That’s what this will be, as I share my everyday thoughts, feelings, BS opinions, and RAMBLINGS. I find it great to stick with what I am feeling. Why?  You can’t argue with a person’s feelings.  For instance, if I say, “I feel sick,” I don’t have too many people arguing with me. Someone might say, “Well, Dotti, you don’t look sick,” but they aren’t going to argue with what I feel. Now, opinions?  That’s another story! I call them my subjective BS Opinions.  I’ve got them, you’ve got them, everyone has them.  Our opinions are our subjective take on how we see the world and our beliefs.  That means we often have to get outside of our subjective take on anything to truly “understand” how someone else thinks. For instance, I firmly believe that I, Dotti Berry, should have the equal opportunity to marry the person I love, who happens to be Robynne Sapp.  I have now married her three times, only to have our marriaged annulled by the state of Oregon by having a refund check for $65 sent back to us after Oregon changed the law to say that same gender couples could not marry, and to negate the legal marriage of 3000 couples.  We made a photocopy of it (for the sake of history since nobody in a few years will believe this ever happened) and then merrily cashed it and went out to dinner to celebrate that we are still married.  Why do I say that? Because a marriage is a commitment between two people (and their God if that applies) in whatever mutual contract they have decided.  Our vow to one another each time has been “I come to you with an open heart, and vow to change the world through the expression of our love.” We are so committed to one another and to our society that we took a year long journey with the intention of engaging hearts and minds, creating authentic connections, and transcending difference that separate us. We also have a non-profit, Stand UP Speak OUT that fuels our passion for change in America.

One reason we love Canada is for the opportunity we had to legally marry there. As Prop 8 goes back to court this week, we think about what an important time in history this is.  Had history not changed for Obama, he could have never been President. I say that, this too, shall pass one day, and we will be accorded the legal rights of mixed gender couples.  It will help to one day have the 1000+ rights that most couples do not even realize they have.  We find it hard to understand why people refer to it  “gay marriage.” It is simply marriage equality.  When 17 states in 1967 finally made it legal for blacks and whites to marry, they didn’t call it a special name. Changing the long outdated law simply created marriage equality for mixed race couples.
That’s what we want…no more…no less.  If you have never read about Mildred & Richard Loving, they are the interracial couple whose relationship makes it one step closer to me having those same rights.  Before she died, see what she came to understand about same gender couples and their right to marry.  You can read about their story on its 40th anniversary and what Mildred decided before she passed away in May, 2008.  There’s something sweet about their last name being Loving.  A scripted Hollywood movie couldn’t have made a more poignant choice. If you’ve never watched “Tying the Knot,” put that on your list of “must see” movies. The film points out that many of the same arguments currently used against same-sex unions were argued previously to deny interracial couples the right to marry.  Few in our country realize that June 12 is Loving Day,  in honor this courageous couple, who simply wanted to love one another and live their life together.

Richard and Mildred Loving got married and made history in 1958. They were the couple that overturned one of the last vestiges of racism in America. She was black and he was white and interracial marriages were forbidden in their home state of Virginia. They got married anyway and eventually took their case (Loving v. Virginia) to the Supreme Court. In its decision, on June 12, 1967, the court struck down the Virginia law and similar laws in 16 other states.
